New Year Header

Christmas is over and it seems like it's time for the Christmas decorations to come down.

This is the header used for December 2011:

My current theme is Charles Dickens' Bleak House with the heroine Esther Summerson shown prominently on my header. Other characters from Bleak House are featured on my left sidebar.

Also, here is a corresponding blog button for those of you who don't have my blog button or wish to change it up a bit.

Old-Fashioned Charm

What do you think of the new design?
Have you seen Bleak House?

I just love how you theme your blog from different Period Dramas! I love Bleak House and have seen it about 5 times. =) =)

Where do you find your backgrounds? I'm looking for some of the sort you have right now.

I'm going to put your new button up. Don't you just love Esther's hair?

Thank you Melody! Yes, I love Esther hairstyles in this miniseries!
I've found that uploading a scrap of pattern works best for my blog but there are also many free background sites. I'll e-mail you about the subject to see if I can help.

I have to say, I adore your new header and themes. I love Bleak House!
Esther's hairstyles at the beginning of the movie (in your header especially) are lovely, as is her hair at the wedding, but I don't like the one she wears when she and Lady Dedlock have their Momentous Conversation. It's too... weird.
Don't you love Ada's hair, though? I like the picture you chose of her and Richard!

Oh! And the "Comments make me happy" button... I squealed with delight! I love it!

Love it! Bleak House is one of my favorite movies and it makes me rather sad how few people seem to enjoy it, compared to the success of the Jane Austen movies and Little Dorrit.

My mother walked up behind me this morning when I was checking your blog and commented on how lovely it looked as well. She was a graphic artist before marrying and having a family, so there are very few websites she really likes, but she always loves the way you design yours. Thought I would pass the compliment along to you. Have a wonderful day! :)

Oh, I like the designs! I haven't seen Bleak House all the way through...I only caught a small part of it when it aired on our local public tv station, but what part I saw I'd liked.

Honestly, reading Bleak House is a bit bleak. The judicial system just about pushes a person over the edge. It took me two tries to finish the 2005 movie version. Even knowing the end it drug on a bit for me. And I like lengthy detailed stories!
