Death Comes To Pemberley - Trailer & Photos!

Remember a back in June when I posted the news about BBC adapting P.D. James's Death Comes To Pemberley? Well, there's been a lot of new photos and publicity for the BBC's new production of Death Comes To Pemberley that have been released recently.

And there's a trailer!

My suggestion? Watch it a couple times, then familiarize yourself with the cast list and photos before watching it again, you get a few extra tidbits about what to expect! :)

Death Comes To Pemberley (DCTP) will be aired on the BBC in three episodes from December 26-28. No news yet, but we might see it come to the USA sooner or later, maybe even this next year. (The new Downton Abbey season airs from January to February on Masterpiece Theatre so I'm really hoping that DCTP will come after that even as part of Masterpiece Mystery, and then there's the new Poirot films!)

Updated Cast List:
Anna Maxwell Martin as Elizabeth Darcy
Matthew Rhys as Fitzwilliam Darcy
Matthew Goode as George Wickham
Jenna Coleman as Lydia Wickham
Eleanor Tomlinson as Georgiana Darcy
James Fleet as Mr. Bennett
Rebecca Front as Mrs. Bennett
Penelope Keith as Lady Catherine de Bourgh (she's going to be so good!)
Trevor Eve as Sir Selwyn Hardcastle
Tom Ward as Colonel Fitzwilliam
James Norton as Mr. Alveston
Philip Martin Brown as Mr. Bidwell
Nichola Burley as Louisa Bidwell

And now as promised, lots and lots of photos! :)

Production Photos:
(Behind The Scenes!)

The costumes and scenery are all quite lovely! Some of the costumes look like they might have been used in Sense & Sensibility (2008) or Emma (2009), among others. Overall I'm liking the whole look of the miniseries and am really looking forward to this first filmed version of a Pride and Prejudice sequel!!! It can at least be as fun as The Mystery of Edwin Drood (2012) and that was good, if a bit scary at times.
I'm loving have all of these great British actors in a Jane Austen-ish film! Penelope Keith is going to make an amazing Lady Catherine! I wonder they never cast her in the role before! Jenna Coleman is so cute dressed up as Lydia! Not sure about the blond girl who plays Georgiana, sort of odd looking. I'm actually really liking Matthew Rhys as Darcy, at least his looks, how he acts might be more dark than we'd like. Anna Maxwell Martin isn't my first choice for Lizzy but she does look lovely in the costumes!

Based on the trailer do you want to see this film?

What do you think of the costumes and settings?

I'm actually becoming quite intrigued by this... though I'm not sure if I'll actually LIKE it. At this point I'm just interested. :D But I do love that pale blue dress of Esther's-- er, I mean Lizzy's-- in the first few pictures!

Hi! I'm interested in the series, although I did not like the book by PD James at all; it did not make justice to Austen's characters. Still, I'll give it a go, after all, we all love Pride & Prejudice! ;)

I am really looking forward to this mini-series.
I hope it will come to America soon.

It is scheduled to be on "Masterpiece" next year from what I saw on the website but no air date as of yet.
It should be posted as the new "Downton Abbey" season finishes up.

Not sure what to think of Anna Maxwell Martin as Lizzy...I saw her in North and South and think she's too quiet and polite for the part. :) But she's a good actress and I'm sure she'll do a fine job. Their Darcy isn't Colin Firth, but I suppose Janeites will have to get past that.
Ella, I guess we have similar taste in regard to icons! Who cares - our names are different. ;D

I am seriously so excited for this mini-series! I didn't think I'd be when I first heard of it, but then I saw the trailer... and I'm sold. Also, I love the idea of Anna Maxwell Martin as Elizabeth... she was brilliant in Bleak House! Soooo excited!! I just hope it comes out in the US soon.

This post makes me very happy! I'd seen some pictures here and there, but seeing everything together, makes me really look forward to the program. I get to have a whole new Austen(ish) adventure for Christmas!

I really like the look of Matthew Rhys as Mr. Darcy. He really looks the part in those clothes. I'm still not convinced on their choice of Lizzy, but I did like her acting in the trailer and a clip I saw.

Just to say that this is my favourite blog of all times. I adore it!!!! Not a day passes when I check and see whether a new post has been made. I love your blog, Miss Laurie.
(My name is Naomi and I'm fourteen and second of nine children in a home schooling family.)

Oops! I mean: Not a day passes when I don't check... that means I do.
Sorry about that.

I know I'm commenting far to much, but this is about your last post.
Yes, I'd like to see it, but I think I'd be disappointed afterwards. I don't really like Mr Darcy (He's Colin Firth!) and Anna Maxwell Martin is not Lizzy (Jennifer Ehle is my Lizzy!). But I'm very curious about it and rather excited that at last someone has made an attempt to continue our beloved Pride and Prejudice. Perhaps of course, the attempt has been failed- but we never know.
Also, I hope it isn't- you know, with lots of blood and stuff like that. 'Murder in Pemberly' sounds creepy.
I like the look of Lydia- she seems nice a jolly (Isn't she always- little, silly thing?)
Well, please let me know after you have seen it- I'm really curious.
Love, Naomi

Hey! I live in the UK; so just a heads up - there is a scene in episode three which needs to be skipped.

I just finished watching the whole thing on Youtube this afternoon; thank you Plutonian Llama for the heads up on the scene in Episode 3! Overall, I quite enjoyed it. The acting was very good, the scenery and costumes were wonderful.

This looks interesting. If anything, for the costumes. :)

I look forward to your review.

The more I hear about this the more I want to see it. And the costumes are lovely! That is one reason I've considered watching Downton Abbey, because I like looking at all the pretty outfits
